ARLINGTON, Texas – This would have been a wonderful weekend for DeMarcus Ware even without a win over the Lions.
His wife, Taniqua, delivered a baby boy at 4:45 p.m. Saturday. DeMarcus Ware Jr., who arrived with a clean bill of health despite being born a few weeks premature, weighed in at five pounds, 13 ounces.
The birth of the baby was especially touching for the Ware family. Taniqua had three failed pregnancies, including a son, Omar, who was stillborn in 2006.
“It’s just a blessing,” said Ware, who has a 2-year-old adopted daughter, Marley. “Sometimes if you’re able to just fight through things and have faith, blessings happen. To be able to have a kid, DeMarcus Jr., I think it’s awesome. People who have never seen just the birthing process, it’s unimaginable and it’s just a great thing.”
Ware, who has a large tattoo of an “O” with angel wings on his shoulder, had a half-sack and three quarterback hurries during the first game of his son’s life.
“Half a sack -- I’ve got to get him some more next week,” Ware said with a big smile. “He’ll be at home watching.”
