Tony Romo will practice, Jason Hatcher out

IRVING, Texas -- Tony Romo took part in only one practice last week as he recovered from a punctured lung and fractured rib, but the quarterback will practice today, according to a source, as the Cowboys begin on-field preparations for Sunday’s game vs. Detroit.

UPDATE: Romo is practicing with the Cowboys on Wednesday.

Romo made it through Monday’s game vs. Washington with two pain-killing injections and did not report added soreness Tuesday. Felix Jones is also expected to practice after aggravating his dislocated right shoulder in the fourth quarter against the Redskins.

Defensive end Jason Hatcher is unlikely to play this week after suffering a calf strain in the first half on Monday. Hatcher had an MRI on Tuesday and could be back Oct. 16 at New England after the bye.

With Hatcher out, Marcus Spears would move into the starter’s role at right defensive end with Sean Lissemore working as the backup. Clifton Geathers could also be active for the first time with Hatcher’s absence.
