Jerry: Dez Bryant 'frustrating and elating'

ARLINGTON, Texas – The leaping 34-yard touchdown catch over Bills cornerback Leodis McKelvin was the kind of play the Cowboys envisioned when they drafted Dez Bryant.

The Cowboys also envisioned a lot challenges, of course, especially off the field.

So far, Jerry Jones believes Bryant has lived up to his billing, good and bad.

“He has been frustrating and he has been elating,” Jones said. “And so it’s exactly what we thought when we drafted him right to the T. If we didn’t plan on having a little frustration we should have gone a different direction. No surprises with him.”

No surprises, but Jones believes there has been progress by Bryant, who had six catches for 74 yards and the score in Sunday’s blowout of the Bills.

“Dez is really doing better each week, relative to what he’s doing on the practice field, and he’s growing as a man off the field,” Jones said.

The hope is that Bryant will cause much more elation and less frustration in the future.
