ARLINGTON, Texas -- For the second straight week Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten did not catch a pass in the first half. For the second straight second half he came up with big receptions to help the Cowboys pull out a victory.
On the game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, Witten had a 23-yard pickup to the Miami 41 and a 6-yard catch on the next play to help the Cowboys hand the ball off to DeMarco Murray on the next five plays to set up the game-winning field goal.
“I’m always preaching to the young guys, ‘Keep your poise, stay composed,’ ” Witten said. “I had to stay with those words for most of the game, and it paid off right there at the end.”
As for the first-half shutouts, Witten said the time off will help.
“You just can’t put it off on [the coverage],” Witten said. “You’ve got to find a way to make plays. You’ve got to find a way to fix it. I’ll do that over the next few days, evaluate it. It’s something we’re not used to happening, and it’s happening. And it doesn’t need to be.”
