As NFL draft closes in, believe nothing

IRVING, Texas – Jerry Jones’ best comment regarding the draft came after the television cameras were gone Wednesday as he stood in a doorway leading to the scouting offices at Valley Ranch.

“Just because I said it doesn’t make it so,” Jones said, laughing and adding, “A famous quote from a governor in Arkansas.”

And that’s when you realize so much of the pre-draft discussions should be viewed with a large dose of skepticism.

At the NFL owner’s meetings, Jones said the Cowboys would lean to the defense, especially in the first round. On Wednesday, Jones said he would not rule out looking at an offensive lineman with the 14th pick.

So for those wondering if the Cowboys really like Stanford’s David DeCastro, take that for what it’s worth and remember Jones’ previous quote.
