DALLAS -- Ray Lewis is in his 17th season in the NFL and all have been with the same franchise in Cleveland/Baltimore. He has been named to the Pro Bowl 13 times and an All-Pro seven times. One day, he will call the Pro Football Hall of Fame home.
Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee was 10 when Lewis made his debut.
“He’s been around a long time and he’s been one of the best if not the best of all time,” Lee said after taking part in opening a Play 60 Fitness Zone at the Uplift Williams Preparatory School in Dallas on Tuesday. “The way he’s played, the passion he’s played the game with, every linebacker in the league looks up to a guy like that.”
Lee has not met or spoken to Lewis before, but perhaps will Sunday when the Cowboys play the Ravens.
Lee, who is in his third season, cannot imagine playing as long as Lewis.
“Not only to play, but to play at a high level,” Lee said. “This is what year 16 or 17 for him? And to play that long, but to also play at an extremely high level, that’s something that’s a testament to him and how hard he works and the type of player and person he is.”
