Lance Dunbar preparing to start

IRVING, Texas -- Running back Felix Jones didn't practice on Tuesday and his status for working with the rest of his Cowboys' teammates is uncertain for today.

Jones has a knee issue which is concerning for the Cowboys. He's played and practiced through numerous ailments during the season but with a short week there could be an issue about him playing Thanksgiving Day against the Washington Redskins.

If Jones doesn't play or is limited in what he can do, Lance Dunbar, who has moved up the depth chart with the absence of DeMarco Murray (foot), might get his first NFL start.

"I think I’ll be ready," Dunbar said. "I've been here long enough to learn the offense and my assignments to help my team win and do whatever they need me to do whenever they need me to do."

The Cowboys running game has been inconsistent without Murray. Against the Eagles on Nov. 11, the Cowboys rushed for 101 yards but last week against the Browns picked up just 63 yards. But Dunbar has closed the deal in the fourth quarter during the two-game winning streak. He's rushed for a total of 30 yards during the win streak.

"It is frustrating but you need to keep sticking with it and have trust in your offensive line and your teammates and eventually stuff will work out," Dunbar said.
