Cowboys will be in RB market

INDIANAPOLIS – The Cowboys are locked in with DeMarco Murray as their No. 1 running back.

Executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team doesn’t have a No. 2 back on the roster.

“In this league I think you’d like to have more than one back,” Jones said. “Obviously we love DeMarco, but you also have to look he’s not been healthy yet in terms of a full season. I think we need a back. We like (Lance) Dunbar and (Phillip) Tanner but I think they’re more third backs, not second backs.”

Felix Jones is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. Like Murray, he has had a difficult time staying healthy, but he could be an option to return at the right price.

“I would never shut the door on anybody,” Stephen Jones said.

It is unlikely, however, that Jones will return. The Cowboys will look for running backs in the draft as well as free agency.

Price will be an issue for any free agent, but an intriguing option would be Reggie Bush. He had his two best rushing seasons with Miami in 2012-13 (1,086 yards, 986 yards) after spending his first five years in New Orleans.
