Durant comfortable with the defense

Of the free agent signings by the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, outside linebacker Justin Durant could be the biggest. Durant was signed as a veteran to compete with Alex Albright for the other outside linebacker spot.

"I'm pretty comfortable," Durant said about getting to know the defense. "It's a little different from the schemes that I ran before. Just language and different ways of playing certain techniques. I'm getting it pretty good, there are certain principles that I know, I just have to get the minor details that certain coaches want me to do."

Durant should have a familiarity with the 4-3 defense because he played against current Cowboys defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, when he was the defensive coordinator with the Chicago Bears.

"So, I know the way he coaches and I like everything the way he did with those guys," Durant said. "A top five and ten defense every year. I'm just excited to be apart of it."

Durant should be a solid pickup for the Cowboys given the youth with the other two starters in Sean Lee and Bruce Carter. Having a veteran player such as Durant can't hurt a defense in need of playmakers.
