SAN DIEGO -- Sean Lee was credited with 18 tackles and returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown, but the Dallas Cowboys linebacker was not in a chipper mood after the 30-21 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Lee’s eighth career interception and second pick-six of his career was the last highlight for a Cowboys defense that allowed 506 yards.
“I was able to get some good blocking in front of me and scored,” said Lee, whose eight interceptions are tied for the most by a linebacker in the NFL since 2010. “But we didn’t take advantage of the momentum after that.”
The Chargers seized all of the momentum after that and tight end Antonio Gates capped it off with a 56-yard touchdown with 6:54 to play after he got by Lee.
“He kind of stemmed me,” Lee said. “He came inside and it looked like he was going underneath me but then he got above me. As I was trying to get to him I think he gave me a little nudge and got some separation. And Rivers put it right on the money. I should’ve stayed higher on the route with a guy as good as him.”
