LOS ANGELES -- Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Darrell Armstrong was arrested Tuesday near the team's hotel in Marina del Rey on an outstanding warrant for non-sufficient funds in Las Vegas, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed Wednesday.
Armstrong was wanted by the Clark County district attorney's office in connection with the case. A spokesperson for the Marina del Rey sheriff's department said Armstrong was released early Wednesday morning on $40,000 bail.
He was stopped around 8 p.m. Tuesday on a traffic violation and was arrested and booked.
Dallas has been in Los Angeles since Sunday night. The Mavs played the Lakers on Monday and the Clippers on Wednesday. Armstrong was with the team for Wednesday's game, seated in his usual spot one row behind the bench.
Armstrong, 43, played two of his 14 seasons with the Mavs, including the 2005-06 season when Dallas lost in the NBA Finals to the Miami Heat.
He retired after the 2007-08 season and joined the Mavs as an assistant coach midway through the 2009-10 season.
