Mavs don't believe Derek Fisher's injury is serious

DALLAS -- Mavericks point guard Derek Fisher’s status for Thursday’s game against the defending champion Miami Heat is uncertain after he strained the patellar tendon in his right knee.

Fisher left Tuesday’s win over the 76ers with 6:51 left in the first quarter after suffering the injury on a drive to the basket. He will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury.

“We don’t believe it’s serious,” coach Rick Carlisle said.

If Fisher cannot play, Darren Collison will probably make his first start since Nov. 24. Collison had 12 points, two assists and only one turnover in 31 minutes against the Sixers.
