Raymond Felton suffers sprained right ankle

DALLAS -- Mavericks guard Raymond Felton did not return after exiting in the first quarter of Friday night’s preseason game with a sprained right ankle.

Felton, who did not speak to the media, left the American Airlines Center on crutches with a protective boot on his foot. X-rays were negative.

"We hope it's not serious," coach Rick Carlisle said, adding that he does not anticipate that Felton will play Sunday against the Indiana Pacers.

Felton suffered the injury when he landed on the foot of Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Anthony Morrow after driving to the basket.

The Mavs have had two guards get injured in the past two days. Starting shooting guard Monta Ellis will miss at least two preseason games after spraining his left knee during Thursday’s practice.

Felton is suspended for the first four games of the regular season due to his guilty plea on gun charges in New York last season, when he played for the New York Knicks. The Mavs plan for Felton, a nine-year veteran, to get minutes off the bench at both guard spots.
