DALLAS -- Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki had a heck of an excuse to skip Tuesday morning's shootaround.

His wife, Jessica, gave birth to a baby boy on Monday. He's the couple's second child, joining their toddler daughter.

The proud father is expected to play Tuesday night against the San Antonio Spurs.
