Morning skate update: Ribeiro participates

DALLAS -- Here's a quick update from today's morning skate:

* Mike Ribeiro was on the ice skating with his teammates for the first time since he was in the throat on Jan. 6. He had been skating on his own, but not with the team. So that's a big step. He said he hopes to return in time for a three-game road trip just before the Olympic break. But we'll see.

"The hardest part is to get in and get comfortable and not be scared to get hit and play with no fear," Ribeiro said. "That will come with practice. I'm anxious to come back. I hope I can come back before that Olympic break. That Olympic break won't hurt either to get healed. I'd like to get a game or two in before the break to see where I'm at."

* Alex Auld will be in goal tonight. "He played really well against them in their building earlier this year," Stars coach Marc Crawford said. "Right now we're taking things as we should and looking at games a game at a time. I made the decision that he gives us the best opportunity to win in tonight's game. He has confidence against Calgary."

* Crawford listed Jere Lehtinen (neck) and Brenden Morrow (oblique) as probable. But in talking to Lehtinen, it seems that he might not play tonight. Morrow looks ready to go. We'll see.
