The Texas Stars opened their 2010-11 season with a 3-0 victory at San Antonio Sunday afternoon behind a 27-save shutout from goaltender Brent Krahn, two goals from forward Travis Morin and one goal and one assist from from forward Scott McCulloch.
The game was scoreless until late in the third, when Ondrej Roman took advantage of a San Antonio turnover and setup McCulloch, who beat Rampage goalie Matt Climie with 5:09 remaining. Morin made it 2-0 with 1:34 remaining and then Morin scored an empty net goal with 12 seconds to go in the game.
The Stars outshot the Rampage 41-27 in the game. Climie, the former Texas goalie, stopped 38 of 40 shots. Also on the San Antonio roster were former Texas players Garrett Stafford and Mathieu Beaudoin, who along with Climie are now part of the Phoenix Coyotes organization.
The Stars dressed 11 forwards and 7 defensemen for the game. The forward lines looked like this for the most part:
