SURPRISE, Ariz. -- A few quick notes:
* Brandon Webb was sore, but didn't feel anything unsual after his brief (eight minutes) session on the mound Thursday. He isn't scheduled to get back on the mound until Sunday. The club is sticking with the plan to throw him every three days (as opposed to every other day like the other pitchers).
* Tommy Hunter understands that he has to earn a job this spring and wasn't surprised to hear that manager Ron Washington said so on Thursday. Hunter, who was 13-4 with a 3.73 ERA in 2010, said he knows he has to improve in several areas, starting with his changeup, and is focused on doing so. More on Hunter later.
* Pitchers are continuing their throwing programs today. That includes C.J. Wilson, Eric Hurley, Tanner Scheppers, Zach Phillips, Zack Jackson, Seth McClung, Mark Lowe, Yoshinori Tateyama, Dave Bush and Cody Eppley (forgive me if I missed a few).
* Washington said if the weather is bad tomorrow -- and it's a 90% chance of rain at this point -- the club will do its work in the cages with the pitchers going first followed by the hitters. They won't take any chances on trying to work out on a wet field.
