Brandon Webb's arm getting stronger

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers pitcher Brandon Webb was pleased with how he felt on Wednesday. One day after his second consecutive "heavy toss" day, Webb didn't feel any more soreness than usual.

"I think that's big," Webb said. "I'm recovering and throwing long distances. The plan is to keep going that."

Webb will have two more straight days of long toss on Thursday and Friday before a light day on Saturday (just like today, when he threw from about 100 feet). If all goes well, Webb hopes he can get on a mound possibly on Sunday. But that's up to pitching coach Mike Maddux and his staff.

Webb said he was on the field with Maddux watching Neftali Feliz do his long toss and Maddux said: "See, that's what I want your long toss to look like."

"I just gave him a look and he said, 'No, not the 100 mile-per-hour stuff, but how it's on a line,'" Webb said. "I can tell I'm close to that, so we'll try to do more of that the next few days."
