SURPRISE, Ariz. -- It was a difficult day for Rangers pitching prospect Tanner Scheppers. In a split-squad game against the Chicago Cubs in Mesa -- an 8-7 Rangers victory -- in which he was slated to pitch two innings, Scheppers couldn't make it out of one.
He allowed four runs on five hits and walked two in 2/3 of an inning.
Afterward, he complained of stiffness in his back. The Rangers said Scheppers will be re-evaluated Friday morning. It is not known if he will have to miss any time.
