SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers pitcher Brandon Webb said he is scheduled to throw against hitters Wednesday. Webb has thrown four bullpen sessions, most recently a 62-pitch outing Sunday, and felt normal soreness on Monday.
"Maybe seeing some hitters will help me tighten up my command a little bit," Webb said. "I've just felt a little wild."
Webb says he's felt fine physically all spring and continues his progression toward eventually pitching in games, though no timetable has been set for that.
*Third baseman Adrian Beltre took grounders Sunday and continues to progress as he nurses a strained calf muscle. Beltre is still not doing any hard running yet.
Other notes: RHP Tanner Scheppers was scheduled to see a local back specialist today and the club should know the results of that visit soon. Scheppers has felt better in recent days thanks to anti-inflammatory medicine. ... 3B Brian Barden has inflammation of the right elbow and received an injection. He will not take part in any baseball activity for 3-4 days.
