Rhadigan disappointed, but also thankful

Former Rangers play-by-play television voice John Rhadigan said Thursday that he is disappointed that he didn't have a longer opportunity in the booth, but is grateful he got the chance to call games for a few months with analyst Tom Grieve.

"I wanted to be doing the job for 20 years," Rhadigan said. "But I'll look back on this grateful that I took the risk and had three weeks of fantasy baseball play-by-play experience and enjoyed every minute of it."

Rhadigan plans on taking a few days off before returning to his role as Fox Sports Southwest's pre- and postgame host. He said he's pleased to be back there and enjoyed the job before leaving to take the play-by-play seat vacated when Josh Lewin was not re-signed after the 2010 season.

Rhadigan said he knew there were fans that weren't happy with his performance, but he did his best not to pay attention to it.

"I knew it was there, but it wasn't going to be constructive for me to get caught up in it," Rhadigan said. "When I made mistakes, I tried to learn from them. I enjoyed the challenge."

Rhadigan said he wishes Dave Barnett the best and expects him to do a good job.

"Everyone out there was supportive of me and I appreciate that," Rhadigan said.
