Saturday's game starts later, Ross promoted

DETROIT -- A few quick notes for you from the Rangers today:

* Saturday's game against the Cleveland Indians has been moved to a 7:15 p.m. start because of the on-field ceremony inducting Kenny Rogers into the Rangers Hall of Fame. That ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6:40 p.m.

The festivities begin on Friday, August 5 with the Dr Pepper Hall of Fame Luncheon at the Arlington Convention Center at 11:30 a.m. The luncheon will honor Rogers and also features Rangers Hall of Famers Rusty Greer, Tom Grieve, Toby Harrah, Charlie Hough, Nolan Ryan, Ruben Sierra, and Jim Sundberg. Eric Nadel will be the master of ceremonies for the luncheon, which benefits the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.

Tickets for the luncheon are priced at $50 for individuals and $500 for tables of eight that include a Rangers Alumni/Celebrity (subject to availability). Tickets are still available by calling 817-436-5933 or e-mailing foundation@texasrangers.com. Tickets can be picked up at the door.

* A number of Ranger alumni will be available for autographs between 5 and 5:45 p.m. on Saturday on the main concourse between home plate and third base. Some of the players expected to attend:

* LHP Robbie Ross was promoted from Class A Myrtle Beach to Double-A Frisco and is scheduled to start on Thursday. Ross, 22, was 9-4 with a 2.26 ERA in 21 games (20 starts) for Myrtle Beach. In 123 1/3 innings, he had 98 strikeouts and 28 walks and opponents hit .227 against him.
