Rapid Reaction: A's 6, Rangers 2

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Oakland dominated Yu Darvish once again, using two home runs to beat him and the Rangers 6-2 on Tuesday night at Rangers Ballpark.

Darvish falters: The Rangers' ace had his sixth 10-strikeout game of the season, but otherwise his start was poor. Darvish threw too many hittable pitches to the A's, giving up home runs in the second and third innings despite being ahead in the count. Oakland first baseman Brandon Moss crushed a two-seam fastball into the right-field seats for a 1-0 lead. A's catcher John Jaso then led off the third inning with his second home run, also on an 0-1 two-seam fastball. Darvish wasn't helped by his defense -- Lance Berkman made a bad error -- and a stolen base by Josh Reddick led to a run. Darvish finished with 10 strikeouts, but left after six innings trailing 5-2, leaving him winless for a career-high six starts. Darvish is 1-4 lifetime against the A's, and three of his four career losses at Rangers Ballpark have come against Oakland.

Offense regains poor form: The Rangers had three hits against Jarrod Parker, two of them in the third inning. Parker needed just 91 pitches to get through seven innings.

Pierzynski keeps going: The Rangers can count on A.J. Pierzynski on offense. He pulled the Rangers within 3-2 in the bottom of the third with a two-run single to center field. Pierzynski has four RBIs in the series and 11 RBIs in his last 20 games.

Middle of lineup struggles: The Rangers' 4-5-6 hitters -- Adrian Beltre, Berkman and Nelson Cruz -- combined to go 0-for-8 with two strikeouts. Cruz did reach on a one-out walk in the bottom of the second.

Kinsler gets stitched up: Ian Kinsler received three stitches on the left side of his face after a collision at home with Oakland catcher Jaso in the third inning of Tuesday night's game. After a long delay, Kinsler returned to the game between the third and fourth innings. Kinsler scored on Pierzynski's two-run single that closed the gap to 3-2.

Ortiz returns: Left-handed reliever Joseph Ortiz returned Tuesday and allowed a run. He gave up a triple to Moss and Josh Donaldson brought him home with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Up next: The Rangers and A's play the third game of their four-game series with right-hander Justin Grimm (5-5, 5.59 ERA) going up against left-hander Tommy Milone (6-6, 3.61 ERA) at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday. On Thursday, Rangers right-hander Josh Lindblom (0-2, 5.94 ERA) takes on right-hander A.J. Griffin (5-6, 3.93 ERA) at 1:05 p.m. Both games are on Fox Sports Southwest and ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and 1540 AM.
