It sure appears that way.
The Rangers have been working for months to try to get the right deal for a videoboard and other visual components in Rangers Ballpark in Arlington for the 2011 season, but they weren't going to rush it if they didn't get something they were completely pleased about.
But managing general partner Chuck Greenberg was asked by a fan on his Facebook page whether a "new scoreboard plan for 2011 was doable." Greenberg's response: "Major announcement should be coming by the end of the week :-)"
I'm hearing that could be as soon as Friday, but we'll see. Greenberg said before Thanksgiving that a new videoboard would go over the Home Run Porch, replacing the current board. But that would also include redoing the scoreboard component of that structure as well.
So stay tuned. All I know is the park certainly needs the upgrade and it's something Greenberg has talked about since he started pursuing purchasing the club. We'll let you know all the details once they come out.
