SAN ANTONIO -- David Buehler went 4-for-6 Monday on field-goal attempts and this summer he's 20-for-24.

Buehler made field goals of 30, 38, 48 and 50 yards. He was wide right on a 44-yarder and wide left from 53 yards.

When the Cowboys missed an NFL-high 11 field goal attempts last season, Jerry Jones was forced to find a replacement. If Buehler struggles, don't be surprised to see the Cowboys go after a veteran. Buehler, who is also the kickoff specialist, isn't losing his roster spot. But the Cowboys don't want to use two spots on kickers, like they did last season.

So the team wants Buehler to succeed.

"I'm anxious," coach Wade Phillips said of wanting to see Buehler. "I want to see him in live action in a game. It's not the end of the world if he misses one, I wouldn’t go that far because it's not fair for one thing."

Buehler said he works on his mechanics all the time whether he makes or misses field goal tries. Buehler's kicking coach, Chris Boniol, brought in a portable field goal that is nine-feet wide to get the kicker to aim toward the middle of the regular goal post which is 18-feet wide.

"I didn’t have my best day today," Buehler said. "I went 4-for-6 and it frustrates me like no other. I'm trying to be a perfectionist and I'm called a specialist and I have a craft I need to perfect, and when I miss field goals, no matter how far it is, I get upset. I feel like I should make everyone."
