Highly touted middleweight prospect Ievgen Khytrov has signed a co-promotional deal with Lou DiBella, who will guide his career along with original promoter Fight Promotions Inc., DiBella told ESPN.com.
Khytrov (7-0, 7 KOs), 26, a native of Ukraine living in Brooklyn, New York, was being co-promoted by Iron Mike Productions. But with the implosion of IMP, DiBella said he made a deal to buy out IMP's stake in his contract. Khytrov, a gold medalist at the 2011 amateur world championships and 2012 Olympian, has looked superb as a professional.
"I think he's an animal," DiBella said. "I think in two years down the road a fight between him and [Gennady] Golovkin is warfare. He's not ready yet, but that's a fight that I think will happen someday."
DiBella said Khytrov's first bout of the new deal will be on the "ShoBox" card he is promoting on Jan. 9 (Showtime) at the Morongo resort in Cabazon, California. The card is slated to be headlined by lightweight prospect Ivan Redkach (17-0, 13 KOs).
