The show will go on Nov. 14 on Showtime.
Although headliner Gary Russell Jr. suffered a cut this week and was forced to withdraw from his initial featherweight world title defense against Oscar Escandon, the network announced on Thursday that there will still be a card that night (10:45 p.m. ET/PT) at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
However, rather than an edition of “Showtime Championship Boxing” headlined by Russell-Escandon, the broadcast will now be an edition of prospect-oriented “ShoBox: The New Generation.”
The headliner is the same fight that was scheduled to open the Russell-Escandon telecast: a 10-round junior middleweight bout between Frank Galarza (17-0-2, 11 KOs), 30, of Brooklyn, New York, and Jarrett Hurd (16-0, 10 KOs), 25, of Accokeek, Maryland.
Additional details regarding the rest of the televised card are not yet set.
