Search continues for stolen title belts

The International Boxing Hall of Fame is continuing its search for the six championship belts stolen from the Canastota, New York museum on Nov. 5.

The Hall of Fame is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people who stole the belts -- four from the career of Carmen Basilio and two from Tony Zale, both Hall of Famers.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, also a Hall of Famer, also is offering a reward for information that leads authorities to the recovery of the belts. Tyson announced that he will give a Tyson-autographed boxing glove, a signed copy of his book (“Undisputed Truth”) and a signed Roots of Fight T-shirt to whomever can help get the belts back.

Anyone with information on the case should call the Canastota police at 315-697-2240 or 315-697-8888.
