Lions DE Ezekiel Ansah named to AP All-Pro second team

Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah had a breakout season and then the honors started coming in.

He picked up his first one last month, with a Pro Bowl nod. On Friday, he added another, being named a second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press. The All-Pro team is one of the most prestigious honors a player can receive, more so than the Pro Bowl invitations.

It was the first All-Pro selection for Ansah, who had 47 tackles, 14.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries this season.

Ansah finished third in the NFL in sacks, tied for second in forced fumbles and tied for ninth in fumble recoveries.

It is the sixth straight year the Lions have had someone on one of the AP's two All-Pro teams. Ndamukong Suh was named to the team in 2010, 2013 and 2014. Calvin Johnson was named to the team in 2011, 2012 and 2013. It is the first time in that span, though, that the Lions have not had someone on the AP's first team.
