Theo Riddick, Golden Tate express Muhammad Ali's importance to them

The death of Muhammad Ali late Friday night brought out remembrances from all over the sports world, including many of the Detroit Lions players the man known as “The Greatest” influenced with his words and actions.

Many took to social media to explain what Ali meant to them.

“Your [sic] taught me to fight for what was right regardless the consequences that you may face,” Lions running back Theo Riddick wrote on his private Instagram page Saturday morning. “I never met you and wish I did! You’ll always be an [sic] hero to me. RIP to a brave soul and family man!”

Ali died Friday, according to a statement from his family. He was 74.
