Packers start signing draft picks, entire class should be done soon

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers have signed most of their third-day draft picks and should have their entire draft class under contract soon.

According to a source, fourth-round pick Jake Ryan signed his rookie deal on Thursday.

The source also said the rest of the team’s late-round draft picks were either already signed or would be by the end of the day.

Ryan was the Packers' first pick on the final day of the draft. The Michigan linebacker went No. 129 overall.

Packers general manager Ted Thompson picked five players in all on Day 3, which includes Rounds 4-7. The others -- UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley (fifth round), Oklahoma fullback Aaron Ripkowski (sixth round), Louisiana-Lafayette defensive end Christian Ringo (sixth round) and UAB tight end Kennard Backman (sixth round) -- should all be signed by the time they hit the field for the first rookie practice on Friday.

It might take a little longer to get deals done with the first three picks -- Arizona State cornerback Damarious Randall (first round), Miami (Ohio) cornerback Quinten Rollins (second round) and Stanford receiver Ty Montgomery (third round) -- but under the rookie slotting system, it shouldn't be long before all eight draft picks are under contract.

The Packers' rookie salary pool for their 2015 cap is 5,123,244.
