Packers have $8.999 million in cap space left after signing draft class

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Most of the four-year deal that first-round pick Kenny Clark signed last Friday with the Green Bay Packers is guaranteed.

With a $5,008,468 signing bonus plus his first three years of base salary guaranteed, the Packers will pay Clark at least $7,635,055 during the first three years of the deal. He could earn a total of $9,361,644 during the four years. The contract was officially filed with the NFL Players Association on Tuesday.

For salary-cap purposes, Clark’s signing bonus was prorated at $1,252,117 over each season. The Packers used the maximum allotted salary-cap space for Clark’s deal under the rookie salary pool. According to the NFLPA, the Packers now have $8,999,130 in remaining salary-cap space for this season (counting their top 51 contracts).

Here’s a breakdown of Clark’s contract year by year:

2016

  • Salary-cap charge: $1,702,117

2017

With Clark signed, the Packers have all of their draft picks under contract. Here’s how the other six deals broke down:

T Jason Spriggs, Indiana (second round): Four years and $5,004,300. A total of $2,966,960 is guaranteed, including a $1,839,492 signing bonus. Base salaries are $450,000 in 2016 (guaranteed), $677,468 in 2017 (guaranteed), $904,936 in 2018 and $1,132,404 in 2018.

OLB Kyler Fackrell (third round): Four years and $3,114,548. Signing bonus of $694,058 (only guaranteed money). Base salaries are $450,000 in 2016, $560,000 in 2017, $648,000 in 2018 and $737,288 in 2019.

LB Blake Martinez, Stanford (fourth round): Four years and $2,723,392. Signing bonus of $383,392 (only guaranteed money). Base salaries are $450,000 in 2016, $540,000 in 2017, $630,000 in 2018 and $720,000 in 2019.

T Dean Lowry, Northwestern (fourth round): Four years and $2,723,392. Signing bonus of $383,392 (only guaranteed money). Base salaries are $450,000 in 2016, $540,000 in 2017, $630,000 in 2018 and $720,000 in 2019.

WR Trevor Davis, Cal (fifth round): Four years and $2,567,176. Signing bonus of $227,167 (only guaranteed money). Base salaries are $450,000 in 2016, $540,000 in 2017, $630,000 in 2018 and $720,000 in 2019.

T Kyle Murphy, Stanford (sixth round): Four years and $2,466,140. Signing bonus of $126,140. Base salaries are $450,000 in 2016, $540,000 in 2017, $630,000 in 2018 and $720,000 in 2019.
