Throw of the Week: Braheme Days, Jr.

In the wake of last year's heralded seniors, Ryan Crouser and Nick Vena, a new standout has emerged in the boys shot put. Braheme Days, Jr., a junior from Bridgeton (N.J.) has taken over the event by storm.

It began on Jan. 30 when Days PR'd by nearly five feet at the SJTCA Winter Warm Up, where he threw 66 feet, 6.50 inches. But Days proved that he wasn't a one-put wonder. Seven days later, on Feb. 6, he threw 68-11 in the NJSIAA South Group 1 & 2 Section meet.

Suddenly Days, who had a PR of 61-7.25 last year, is climbing all-time lists.

According to New Jersey track journalist Jim Lambert, Days now ranks No. 2 all-time in New Jersey and No. 9 all-time in U.S. history. That makes Days an easy pick for Dyestat's Throw of the Week for Jan. 30 - Feb. 5.
