Andre Johnson says he'll play Sunday

HOUSTON -- While Texans coach Gary Kubiak is still calling receiver Andre Johnson a game-time decision, Johnson said he will play.

"Yeah," Johnson said. "I don't see why not."

He shed a little more light on the shin injury Friday when he spoke for the first time this week. Johnson originally suffered the injury in Baltimore three weeks ago.

"Today I felt a little better than I felt last week," Johnson said. "At times, after watching the game last week at times you could see I was dragging my leg. Today out there in practice I felt like I got my range of motion and stuff back a little bit. That's how I've felt so far."

Johnson said he did a little bit more on the stationary bike this week. He also did more pool work.

"To be honest I didn't think it'd be around this long," he said. "It's part of it. Had a lot of fluid on the shin. That's what's slowed down the healing process, I had a lot of fluid. ... They give you anti-inflammatories and stuff like that. After the Seattle game, my leg was pretty big. I woke up the next morning surprised at how big it was."

Johnson said the fluid built up in such a way that it couldn't be drained. It was the first thing he asked. Sounds as though he's now feeling better than he has during the course of the injury.
