Colts coach Chuck Pagano wears T-shirt to support Eric Berry

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano wore a T-shirt during practice Tuesday in support of Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry.

The front of the T-shirt had "Be Bold", "Be Brave", and "Be Berry" inside of red football. The back of the shirt had Berry's last name and his No. 29.

It was announced last month that Berry, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma last year, is cancer-free. Pagano missed 12 games while he battled cancer in 2012. Berry said last month that during his treatments, the Colts' coach would text him.

Here are a few more observations from Colts practice on Tuesday:

  • Running back Vick Ballard is a player the Colts are keeping a close eye on when it comes to injuries. That’s why there was likely plenty of nervousness when Ballard came up gingerly during practice. It turns out Ballard experienced some tightness in his left hamstring and sat out the rest of practice. The last thing Ballard wants to deal with is another injury after he missed most of the 2013 season with a torn ACL and then all of last season with a torn Achilles.

  • Cornerback Vontae Davis, linebacker Bjoern Werner, receiver Andre Johnson and linebacker D'Qwell Jackson were all held out of practice for preventive reasons.

  • Safety Mike Adams is already in midseason form when it comes to causing turnovers. Adams, who had five interceptions and two fumble recoveries last season, intercepted backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck for the second time in three practices when he ran underneath a pass intended for receiver Phillip Dorsett.
