Pat McAfee shows Christmas spirit by paying electricity bill of 115 people

INDIANAPOLIS –-- Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee added to the long list of charitable things he has done for the state of Indiana when he gave 115 people an early Christmas present by surprising them when he paid their electricity bill.

Valerie Moore, 58, was going to have her electricity cut off on Dec. 27 if she didn’t pay her bill that totaled nearly $400, according to Fox 59 in Indianapolis.

"There was no Christmas planning here," Moore told Fox 59. "I didn't plan for Christmas. I've been telling people I pay my bills, keep a roof over our heads. I don't have money for Christmas. I just don't."

A friend called Moore and told her an anonymous person was paying some people’s bills. That prompted Moore to drive to the Indianapolis Power and Light office.

"So whoever you are God bless you, God bless you and thank you ever so much for blessing us," Moore told the television station.

This is the second straight year that McAfee has surprised some IPL customers and paid their electricity bill. He paid the bill of 83 customers in December 2015.
