JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The news that Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Allen Hurns isn't going to play against Tennessee on Sunday shouldn't be surprising.
A source told ESPN.com earlier in the week that he was unlikely to play, and Hurns didn't clear the NFL's concussion protocol on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Hurns could have played if he were to clear the protocol on Saturday, but he would have missed too much prep time during the week so the safest course was to sit him on Sunday and hope he's cleared in time for next week's game against Indianapolis.
With two other receivers banged up as well -- Neal Sterling (illness) and Bryan Walters (back) -- and listed as questionable on Friday's injury report, the Jaguars have only three completely healthy receivers in Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee and rookie Rashad Greene. Lee's injury history hasn't yet allowed him to prove he can be consistently relied upon, though, so the Jaguars may cut down on the number of three-receiver sets, especially if Walters (30 catches, 350 yards, one TD) can't play.
"Bryan Walters might be up until game day," coach Gus Bradley said. "I think it'll be something that we'll evaluate [Saturday]. We have another segment of our practice [on Saturday] that's full speed so I think that will be a big evaluation part of practice and where we're at with the receiving group."
Here's the rest of the Jaguars' injury report:
Defensive end Chris Clemons (not injury related), safety Johnathan Cyprien (abdomen), safety Josh Evans (concussion), tight end Marcedes Lewis (ankle), defensive tackle Roy Miller (knee), and kicker Jason Myers (back) are probable.
Running back Bernard Pierce (calf) is questionable.
Linebacker Dan Skuta (groin) and running back Toby Gerhart (sports hernia) are out.
