The NFL announced that the 2015 regular-season schedule will be released next week.
We already know the Chiefs will give up a home game to play against the Detroit Lions on Nov. 1 at Wembley Stadium in London. Look for the Chiefs to play a home game the weekend before and have their bye the weekend after.
Otherwise, we know which teams the Chiefs will face and where but not dates and times. At Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs will play against the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears and the usual AFC West trio of the Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers.
On the road, the Chiefs will play against the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings as well as the Broncos, Raiders and Chargers.
Those Chiefs opponents last season had a combined winning percentage of .545 (139-116-1). That’s tied for seventh toughest schedule in the league, by that measure.
The Chiefs look to be strong candidates to begin the season at home and perhaps play two straight at Arrowhead to open. The NFL season begins the weekend of Sept. 13 and the Kansas City Royals are on the road not only that weekend, but the one after as well.
