Chiefs look better than 14th-best NFL team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs are ranked 14th in ESPN's post-draft Power Rankings, which sounds a little low to me. The Chiefs are one spot behind the San Diego Chargers, a team they beat twice last season and had the identical record at season's end (9-7).

Beside the Chargers, the only team ranked ahead of the Chiefs that failed to make the playoffs last season is the Philadelphia Eagles, who finished last season at 10-6.

The Eagles might be better than the Chiefs entering the 2015 season, but it's difficult to make that determination now. Philadelphia's starting quarterback is Sam Bradford, who missed last season because of a torn ACL and joined the Eagles only recently after being traded from the St. Louis Rams.

I'd still have the Chiefs a couple of spots higher than 14.

The Chiefs will find out quickly next season how good they are. After their season-opening game at Houston, the No. 17 team in the Power Rankings, the Chiefs have games against teams ranked fourth (Denver Broncos), third (Green Bay Packers) and 10th (Cincinnati Bengals).
