KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- In case you missed it, the NFL switched the starting time of the Kansas City Chiefs' final game of the regular season. Sunday’s game against Oakland will begin at 3:25 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff had been scheduled for noon.
This is an inconvenience for some Chiefs fans, particularly those who travel long distances to get to Arrowhead for games. But from a competitive balance standpoint, the league got this one right.
The Chiefs have clinched a playoff spot, but it won’t be determined until next weekend whether they will be a wild-card entrant or the AFC West champion. So starting the two games that will determine whether the division champion is Kansas City or Denver at the same time is a great idea.
The Broncos’ game against San Diego will also begin at 3:25 p.m. CT. It should make for a wonderful afternoon of drama.
