For the Kansas City Chiefs, free agency may be more about re-signing their own than pursuing other players on the market. To that end, the Chiefs agreed to contract terms with a key backup from last season, outside linebacker Frank Zombo.
Zombo, who turned 27 last week, wound up starting five games last season for the injured Justin Houston. Zombo wound up getting two sacks, an interception and five quarterback pressures.
The Chiefs bring back their starting outside linebackers, Houston and Tamba Hali, so there's little chance Zombo will win a starting job. But the Chiefs obviously like having him come off the bench in case of emergencies like the one they faced last year.
