Today we’re continuing a series looking at the six 2014 draft picks of the Kansas City Chiefs. We’ll look at how they fared in offseason practice and what the Chiefs can reasonably expect from them as rookies.

Sixth round: OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif

Offseason: Duvernay-Tardif spent most of offseason practice working as a backup left guard.

Expectations: Don’t look for much from him as a rookie. A Canadian who played in college at Montreal’s McGill University, Duvernay-Tardif is about as raw a prospect as the Chiefs have seen. While he might make the active roster when the season begins, it will be as a developmental prospect. His season, if he makes it, will be spent learning his craft.

Quote: “It’s a big swing and we’re hoping for a home run. You’ve got the [coaches who] can develop him. They’ll close the gap as fast as they can and we’ll see how quick he hits the field.
