Clippers sign Hamilton for rest of season

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Clippers signed forward Jordan Hamilton for the remainder of the season, the team announced Friday.

Hamilton appeared in eight games with two starts for the Clippers, averaging 4.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 9.6 minutes.

The Clippers had planned on making the move on Monday but put those plans were momentarily put on hold as they monitored Hamilton's sprained right ankle.

Hamilton, whose second 10-day contract expired Monday, sprained his right ankle in the third quarter of last Sunday's loss to the Houston Rockets and had to be helped off the court. He did not return to the game. X-rays on Hamilton's ankle came back negative and he will be available to play in Friday's game against the Washington Wizards.

The Clippers also hold a team option to keep Hamilton next season.

Hamilton is averaging 4.6 points and 1.6 rebounds this month and has combined for 19 points and hit five of seven 3-pointers in his past two games.
