LOS ANGELES -- For the second consecutive season, the Los Angeles Lakers led the NBA in most games lost due to injury. Their players 339 missed games all told, topping last season's league-leading mark of 319.
That figure began inflating before the 2014-15 campaign really began. Point guard Steve Nash never played after being declared out for the season because of back injuries; he was credited with missing 73 games before being waived by the team. Rookie forward Julius Randle missed 81 games after suffering a season-ending broken leg in the Lakers' season opener.
Jabari Brown and Vander Blue, called up from the Lakers' NBA Development League affiliate, the Los Angeles D-Fenders, were the Lakers' only guards in Wednesday's game. They are both scheduled to start alongside forwards Ryan Kelly and Jordan Hill and center Tarik Black.
