Lakers announce 2016 NBA Summer League schedule

The Los Angeles Lakers will tip off their five-game 2016 summer league schedule July 8 against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

In the same venue, the Lakers will also play July 9 against the Philadelphia 76ers -- a potential matchup of Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram, the likely top-two picks in in Thursday’s NBA draft -- and July 11 against the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers will then be seeded in a tournament and play two more games. The tournament’s title game will be held on July 18.

It's not clear how many of the Lakers' promising young players will participate in summer league play, but it's typical for first- and second-year players, meaning Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson -- each third-year players -- will likely sit out. D'Angelo Russell, Larry Nance Jr. and Anthony Brown, along with the team's 2016 draft picks -- No. 2 and No. 32 overall -- will likely play.
