Carl Crawford out with illness

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said left fielder Carl Crawford was held out of Saturday's lineup because he's battling an illness that caused him to visit a hospital emergency room.

Mattingly said Crawford was prescribed antibiotics for symptoms that included fever.

"He was going to play today, then he came in and he really didn't look that good," Mattingly said.

The Dodgers don't expect Crawford to be out for long. He missed a little over a month earlier this season with a strained hamstring. He was replaced at leadoff and in the outfield by Skip Schumaker.
