Suns 112, Lakers 106: Kobe scores 39

LOS ANGELES -- Vintage Kobe Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers star again put on a show, leading his squad deep into Tuesday night's game against the Phoenix Suns. But, again, one man does not a team make. The Lakers fall to 0-5 after a 112-106 loss.

Player of the game: The 36-year-old Bryant scored a season-high 39 points on 14-of-37 shooting from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range. He knocked down 8-of-12 from the free-throw line and also dished out nine assists. He scored 14 in the fourth quarter. He played a season-high 44 minutes, which is something else when you think about it. But it wasn't enough.

Play of the game: After serving a suspension, Suns forward P.J. Tucker played his first game of the season and his first shot of the season -- a corner 3-pointer -- with 19.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter put a dagger in the Lakers.

Stat of the night: Led by 26 points from Gerald Green and 22 points from Isaiah Thomas, the Suns' bench outscored the Lakers' bench 54 to 17.
