Upland fullback and defensive lineman Christian Powell has committed to UCLA, according to the recruiting service scout.com.
Powell, a 6-foot, 250-pound senior, rushed for 400 yards and seven touchdowns in leading the Highlanders to a 12-1 mark. He averaged 6.9 tackles on defense, including 15 sacks.
Powell, who transferred to Upland from Alta Loma in Mira Loma following his sophomore season, took an official trip to UCLA on Saturday. He also visited Colorado, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Washington.
Powell’s teammate last season, wide receiver Kenny Lawler, is also considering the Bruins. He’s scheduled to make a trip to Oregon State this weekend and Oklahoma State the next. He has took trips to Arizona State and Washington in November.
