Neuheisel: 'A cathartic day of practice'

UCLA held it's first full practice since last Thursday's debacle in the desert and coach Rick Neuheisel said the team needed it to help put the ugly 48-12 loss to Arizona in the rearview mirror.

"A kind of cathartic day for us to be out her banging a little bit and looking forward to the next contest rather than talking about the disappointment of the last one," Neuheisel said. "Excited about the attitude the kids have taken. Obviously it will be much more meaningful when we see exactly how it parlays itself into the play on Saturday but it was a good start for us."

The Bruins will need a strong week to regroup from that shellacking as they prepare to face California. Not only were the Bruins embarrassed on the field, but they caused embarrassment to the school by engaging in a bench-clearing brawl that resulted in the suspensions of six UCLA players for Saturday's game.
