USC picked up three more watch-list mentions Friday, as offensive linemen Matt Kalil and Khaled Holmes were named to the 65-player Outland Trophy list and safety T.J. McDonald was named to the 87-player Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list.
The Outland goes to the nation's top lineman, offensive or defensive. But 49 of the 65 nominees this season were offensive linemen, including Kalil and Holmes, who were two of eight Pac-12 linemen honored.
The Nagurski is awarded to the nation's top defensive player. McDonald, who was earlier this week nominated for the Bednarik Trophy, is one of six Pac-12 candidates for this latest award.
Kalil is a redshirt junior who will start his second season for the Trojans at left tackle in 2011. He's a projected first-round pick in next April's NFL draft, if he chooses to leave school early. Holmes, also a redshirt junior, will attempt to make the switch to center after starting at right guard last season.
McDonald, a junior, is expected to lead USC's defense this season. He led the Trojans in tackles and added three interceptions in his first season as a starter in 2010.
Watch list announcements coming next week include the Jim Thorpe Award (best defensive back), Rotary Lombardi Award (best lineman), Rimington Trophy (best center), Butkus Award (best linebacker), Davey O'Brien Award (best quarterback) and Doak Walker Award (best running back).
